Gorilla and Wildlife Safari in Uganda features the combination of wild game, mountain gorillas and recreation. On the First Day, after breakfast from your place of stay in Kampala, you embark on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park located 240km from Kampala. The journey to this savanna national park takes about 3 – 4 hours’ drive to the south west of the country. The drive will see you make a stop after 77km at Uganda Equator crossing to encounter the world’s main latitude crossing which is a unique site for beautiful photo shoots and water experiments can also be performed to ascertain the exact geographical divide between the two hemispheres. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park, check in at the lodge settle for lunch and in the afternoon connect to Rwonyo jetty for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo offering magical views of the lake, the fringing swamp, the aquatics like the Hippos and Nile Crocodiles, the birds that prefer being close to the water like the African Fish eagle and the African fin foot. You retreat from the encounter and drive through the park as you connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day two, Connect to the park for an impressive wild game viewing on foot, you explore the beautiful views of the Savannah dotted with Acacia Species and with sections open grassland. The protruding rock Kopjes and Precambrian rocks that date back to 500 million years ago are rewarding to view also. The possible sights of wildlife including the Burchell’s Zebra, the Impala, Topis, the Deffasa Waterbuck, Bushbuck, warthog, the Rothschild giraffes and elands among other species can be explored on this morning encounter. Retreat from the activity and connect to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, making a lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Centre 33km from Lake Mburo NP after which you proceed to Bwindi welcomed by the fascinating Kigezi Highlands connecting to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day three, Have breakfast then go to the park offices to get briefed and at 8:00 am embark on the Uganda gorilla trek along the tracks within the impenetrable forest in search for these great mountain gorillas. The gorilla trekking might take you 2 – 8 hours to find the giant Gorillas depending on their movement. The trek/quest for these great apes is tiresome but very well rewarded by meeting, spending time with and photographing these great gorillas as you look straight into their inviting brown expressive eyes, this is a life time thrill of a wild life adventure only Africa can offer you. After the activity, connect to Lake Bunyonyi commonly known as the lake of a thousand Islands because of its 29 Islands where you will undertake a thrilling boat cruise to gain impressive scenic views of the calm waters that stand as the second deepest in Africa, the Islands and the surrounding Kigezi Highlands. Retire for dinner and overnight.
Day four, After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the transfer back to Kampala 417km about 7 – 8 hours’ drive passing through impressive country side landscapes of south western Uganda before making a lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Centre 12km past Mbarara town arriving in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.
