Kigezi Wildlife Reserve is a reserve that was set up in 1952 located south west of Uganda in Rukungiri District. The reserve covers around 265 square kilometers. Kigezi wildlife reserve is made up by plains, savannas and forests. This wildlife has got a variety of vegetation such as woodland, savannah and open grassland the animals inhabiting in the reserve include elephants, Giant forest hogs, Buffalos, Topi, Waterbucks, Kobs, Bushbucks and a wide range of bird species.

Kigezi Wildlife Reserve is a sanctuary for elephants that move east from the Rwindi Plain in the Democratic Republic of Congo and south from Queen Elizabeth National Park by the start of the rainy period. This reserve is a barrier among Queen Elizabeth National Park’s Ishasha sector, Maramagambo Forest and greatly occupied areas to the south.
